For some months now, the Castle of Pope Julius II, located in the enchanting setting of the Renaissance village of Ostia Antica, has finally reopened its doors. Thanks also to the battles carried out by cultural associations and private citizens in love with their territory, the Castle is now accessible, under the direction of the Lazio Museum.

The Castle of Julius II, a jewel of Renaissance military architecture, is the symbol of the village of Ostia Antica, together with the contemporary basilica of Sant’Aurea. Despite its importance, the castle, located about one hundred meters from the entrance to the famous archaeological excavations of Ostia Antica, is often ignored by tourists..
The Research Cooperative on the Territory, founded by Maria Pia Melandri and Paolo Isaja, has been a point of reference for culture (in a broad sense) on the Roman coast for many years now. Among the many initiatives, the film reviews at the Polo Ostiense have now become a classic.
The Elsa Morante Municipal Library, created in the evocative rooms of the former marine colony Vittorio Emanuele III designed by Marcello Piacentini (1916), is one of the cornerstones of culture on the Roman coast.
